Students will learn how computing & IT tools and applications are used by different organisations together with an investigation of what applications are available to those organisations. The applications used could include word-processing, spread sheets, databases, web browsers, and multimedia packages. Computing is complementary to, but quite different from Information Technology (IT). IT is about the use of computers and their applications. Computing is about their design and implementation.
Our well equipped computer suites and computer instructors provide the required learning environment to help our pupils develop a sound knowledge in computer studies.
Our school library houses the school’s main lending collection of printed resources to support curricular subjects and extra-curricular interests. All pupils enjoy one dedicated reading period per week, and are supported and encouraged to foster a reading habit. Literacy is promoted as a key foundation for all learning.
Food and Cookery
Our well equipped home economics laboratory and instructors challenge the pupil’s ability to design and manufacture products within constraints such as clients focused projects and possible environmental issues.
At TarePet Montessori there is a much greater focus on Core Practicals in Science and this means that pupils must be able to analyze, interpret and evaluate sets of data from a variety of experiments which are be carried out in our well equipped science laboratory. There is also much greater emphasis on the volume of knowledge that students are expected to retain and we are working closely with our students to ensure they have the study skills that will enable them to achieve their potential and make good progress.
Pupils will develop their knowledge in the 3 major realms of Science – Chemistry, Biology and Physics. We have created a bespoke curriculum that enables students to begin their Science journey in JSS 1 with an exciting and engaging scheme of learning. As pupils progress into Senior Secondary they should have the knowledge and skills to enable them excel in their WACS
Problem solving, research, designing and making are all skills developed by students while studying Introductory Technology. At TarePet Montessori the Introductory Technology team strive to encourage young minds to achieve excellence by giving students the exposure to new technologies and industrial processes.
Careers Education, Careers Guidance and Work Related Learning are integral to a students’ development and growth at TarePet Montessori and serve as a preparation for our student’s transition to adulthood. The presence of career related activities provide the connection between learning and earning, equipping our students with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to enter and thrive in the working world.
Subject specific Career Education is embedded within the curriculum from JSS1 - SS3 . Advice and guidance is administered through the weekly tutorial system, alongside specialist presentations and workshops. Applicants for Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry (and other vocational courses) attend weekly extensional classes.
Pupils are encouraged to discuss their university preferences with their teachers. This is also the point where departments point the main emphasis for preparation for admission tests into universities. 70% of pupils last year received offers from their first choice of university.
